Okay, I’m listening to a very dramatic song while I’m reading the last part of this book, and it fits the mood.
Sad and melancholic.

But noooo don’t fool myself, the story MAKES SO SENSE!!!

Wait Cynthia is from the 50s but now she’s in 21C. But she was wearing corsets “just a few days ago”?
Did she time travel into the future?? What???

I knew what I was getting myself into, but....aaaahhHHHHH

oooh wait, the author lives really close to my parents' house.
huh. Interesting.

I love time travel stories.
I love period dramas.
I love love stories.
This book has everything I love, and somehow made it awfully dull and shallow.

40 pages to go.... I want this book/story to finish already.

I knew what I was getting myself into, but I didn't imagine this book will be THIS bad.

Henry just found out about his true identity.... just like that.
Wow that was done BAAAAD.
And he sulk like a kid.
Wait, I'm worried how his father pulled that off.
He legally got married to Ruth without her consent after she disappeared?

hahaha the obvious bitch villain is obvious.
How shallow can the story be?

NOTHING is happening.

Wait, protagonist was 10. Does she know about the period???

I bet this country manor is just like that of "Downton Abbey".

ugh, I always forget that this is set in the US.

Everything feels the opposite of "show not tell"

oh, but the romantic banter and stuff?
Now that I had THE best first date ever in my life yesterday, I don't mind that much.

so she just accepted that she is Rebecca Hatfield... just like that?
And all the melancholy because of that?
It feels forced. Meh.

this is THE definition of "REacting and not acting" protagonist.

So.... the protagonist (what’s her name again?) just accepts it. Hm.
I think I’ll go back to see my parents if this happened to me when I was 11...
No one knows how you look when you’re over 20 (that’s how old she is now right?) She CAN check out her family.

so the protagonist's body matured and her mind did too?
I hope that is the case.

the way this author writes dates.... that does not sound American....

huh....i keep imagining them in a Victorian setting, but no, they're in the 1950s...
And the protagonist's voice sounds really... boring.

(First saw this book on Goodreads, and thought "oh I love that cover design! I might want to buy it.... but before I do, I must check the review on GR.... oh. okay, then" *lost interest*
But then.... when I went to bookstore in Charing Cross Road (the basement floor at the Any Amount of Books, to be precise), and found this book. It felt serendipitous. It wasn't priced, but the guy at the counter said it's £3.)

ahaha most of the review for this book is awful.
I wonder what I'll think.

Het zuigt als verhaal - geen enkel personage heeft karakter - maar ik geniet toch stiekem van de "ooh! my love interest just bought me a store full of hats! ooh! his lips are so close to my ears as we ride together on a single horse due to [reasons]!"
