If St.Augustine were a YouTuber, this section would’ve been called: Based Augustine 🔥ABSOLUTELY OBLITERATES🔥 pagan claims of Romes fall being Christianity’s fault.
Thankfully, YouTube did not exist in the fifth century. Augustine did have some sick burns though, and the argument was pretty exhaustive.

Augustine is a great saint and one of the best writers in Catholic history. The introduction starts with why the book needs to be written. Augustine writes the book in order to respond to paganists who are claiming Christianity is the reason for Rome’s downfall. The heretic claims are so rampant that Augustine feels necessary to write a piece specifically addressing rumors.
