holy wow is not just the story complicated as hell but also the central conspiracy very odd - if it's an accurate portrayal of New Zealand's int'l political relations with EU and NATO then reality is truly unrealistic - not just how convoluted it is but also has seemingly unrelated political scandals apparently being connected, will be interesting to see how this ends

warming up to this now - interesting seeing all the different plot threads converge, there's something like four or five protagonists with different character arcs - I guess the way their stories fit together and reveal the events leading up to the central murder mystery will function as a microcosm of New Zealand's political and sociological hierarchy

Sarafis had an odd writing style - writes at a very fast reading pace while spending a lot of time setting up a lot of different plot strands that don't appear to be connected at first. The actual plot content is quite insightful into New Zealand politics, something I'm not terribly familiar with!
