Finished book. Devastating in that he drills down to the dirt and sin in my life -- my pride, my thinking I've arrived and the need to flee to Christ -- applying that gospel message to my life. Excellent! Will be rereading. It was *very* helpful that Adie read it too and could offer her insights. Adie kept me honest but also helped in how the gospel of Christ life applies. I recommend joint husband and wife reading.

Paul Tripp has read my heart where there is pride and sense of self satisfaction in my life -- where I am in such desperate need of Christ!

Great read for ANYONE in the church...pastors, leaders and all Christ-followers. Honestly...it is almost a must-read. I am convicted and admonished and encouraged on just about every page.

Very helpful for those in Christian ministry. Every time I read a chapter it's convicting and correcting my attitude.

two chapters to go and then I can pass it on. thought I might get a kindle edition but at over £10 I'd rather have a book version. Continued to challenge me about many aspects of my life and ministry. The author has a good way of showing how versions are seen in certain ways.

One of the best books I've ever read! I will read it once a year, from now on.

finding this book extremely challenging but helpful at the same time. I think it is one of those books that will need to be read again and again.

This is probably the most challenging book on the Ministry I have read. Like others who have read it I think this could be a book I read once each year.

At the end of every chapter I pause, confess sin, run to Christ, and plead for grace. "Biblical literacy is not to be confused with Christian maturity. Homiletic accuracy is not the same as godliness. Theological dexterity is very different from practical holiness. Successful leadership is not the same as a heart for Christ. Growth in influence be must not be confused with growth in grace" (105).

This is the kind of book that was both written in tears and read in tears. Extremely convicting and exposing, yet at the same time a soothing balm of gospel healing for any and all who serve in the ministry. So thankful thus far!
