Tony Benn was already talking about working vastly less time for the same pay to maintain societal structures as emerging technology drastically reduces workloads in the 70s!

There are some issues of concern, in the running of Parliament, for Benn that I don't know if we've resolved. Which speaks to what I do know of our process even though I try.
Good section on the power of the PM and how un-democratic their total control over the selection of ministers can be, with the potential to be in conflict with the larger party let alone the country and opposition.

Interesting section on security: Its importance but also how it can be weaponised in secrecy of foreign affairs and data gathering/surveillance of the public.

Interesting section on the development of new technology requiring a transformation in government as it's reshapes the businesses' and the individual's position in society.
Notable mention on how modern right wing politics uses promise of freedom from gov influence to justify stricter management and regulations.

Very interesting hearing Benn's take on joining the EEC, now EC in the EU. It's quite easy to see why it was perogative of staunch socialists to oppose our induction. From most perspectives regardless of political persuasion it's pretty damning to be fair.
It's also very interesting to hear which side the wealthiest corporations and major news outlets took at the time. Guess what, they wanted in.

It's quite hard to read a figures heavy political book that is 40 years out of date, but I'm determined to finish this one lunch-break at a time.

Whilst the data is outdated, Benn's ideas are not. It's remarkable how little progress we've made in the 40 years since this written towards the sensible socialist policies that remain topical in current arguments.
It's also interesting to note how incredibly similar the narrative between the Conservatives, Labour, and the media was then to the present day.
