*”A Wizard from Gettysburg” - A lovely story about that seems to be about how kindness and generosity can lead to rich rewards, but heartbreaking as well… the man did not recognize his wife, Madame Delmandé.
*”Ma’ame Pélagie” - the pain of loss and of holding on to the past, in this case a ruined plantation house and her younger sister

“A Visit to Avoyelles” - Poor Doudouce… Mentine never loved him. Her life may be tough, and she may look worn and not have much, but she’s rich in that which is most important to her.

*Loka - Good job, Baptiste, for sticking up for Loka!
*Boulôt and Boulotte - Sweet kids didn't want to get their nice new shoes dusty. I don't blame them for not wanting to wear them home.
*For Marse Chouchotte - OH come on! Dammit, Chopin... not Wash... that's bullshit... love the horse's name is Speedy... and the other one is Bon-à-rien?? Poor pony, lol... but Wash?? For helping out Chouchoute??? Not cool, Kate!

“Love on the Bon-Dieu” - “You ‘spec’ chicken-pie gwine las’ eternal?” P.101
So grateful for that happy ending! Azenor is a very nice boy and Lalie deserves something good.

Madame Célestin's Divorce - Brother gave it his all only to be cock-blocked by the husband. That's rough! Also, I'm assuming Paxton is white & when it says, "Old Natchitoches would not hold them comfortably, perhaps; but the world was surely wide enough to love in, outside of Natchitoches town." it means not comfortable for them as a bi-racial couple. Would they have been accepted in NOLA? Or more likely France.

“The Return of Alcibiade”- this was a sweet story of a chance encounter allowing an old man peace.
“A Rude Awakening” - A poor man has an epiphany, realizing the things he values most are those closest to him.
“The Bênitous’ Slave” - This was sad, thinking being enslaved by the Bênitous was the only family this man felt he had.
“Désirées’ Baby” - Armand can rot in the lowest level of hell.
