Status Updates From BITE BACK

I’m trying to give the benefit of the doubt due to raving reviews/also being trans but it is hard for me to get past the way Omen talks/thinks for living in a hyper religious, magical, cannibalistic society. It feels like everything is explained right after it happens, there’s no room to make your conclusions even when they are obvious. I plan to finish but don’t have high hopes currently :(

I’m kinda wishing I knew what the MC looked like. I’ve noticed there hasn’t been any clear descriptions of any characters at all yet, not even a little hint of hair color or eye color yet. Idk if it’s on purpose ??

The more I read, the more I wish the MCs backstory had been focused on. At least a chapter showing it might have been enough. I feel a bit detached to the voice we’re seeing the entire story play out through.

IM ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with this concept. It is such a different and raw way to represent the patriarchy. I’ve never seen it presented in a way that felt real and true to me.

The only things I can really complain about so far is some bits of vagueness. I’m not sure yet if it will all come together in the end, it’s still early. It’s just confusing at parts, like I’m supposed to already know something?
