45% in. Trying to decide if I should finish this book.
Vivid and well researched until the Iran chapters, which I know well enough. It blames the 1917–19 famine mainly on the Ottomans, minimizing Britain's role, and reduces Mossadegh to a hysterical, pyjama-wearing communist ally while barely mentioning his oil nationalization. Makes me wonder how much to trust the parts I don’t know well enough to check.
