Well, this is certainly I deviation from the norm. I don't have a clue what's going on with the world Asher built but the story flows. Still not sure what to think yet.

I am enjoying the worldbuilding and the interesting characters, but the plotting and pacing is ALL OVER THE PLACE, slow down darn it

Fun world and characters. Have no idea where this is going.

It was a slow start but seeing as I am doing the polity universe in chronological order it is more than worth the pay off to persist past the 40% mark.

Ultraviolent bio-punk with a heavy Ian Banks influence, especially the slapstick scenes between sapient drones.

This book is doing a wonderful job articulating why I find seafood so disgusting. Also: flesh-eating leeches.

Bit of a rushed, feel-good finale - but that final scene with Sniper balanced it all out! XD

I don't like having so many POV characters.
Just two or three less and my enjoyment of this book would be so much higher.

Interesting so far but definitely not the best book in the series to start with, it kind of expects you to know the fundamentals of this universe. Fortunately I watched a great video about it, so I'm mostly fine.

Just getting started, A few characters have been introduced but not a whole lot makes sense just yet. My parents say its one of the best sci-fi books they've ever read so I'm gonna give it a few pages till I decide if I like it or not

This is the first book I've read by Neal Asher. I'm very impressed.

Har endeleg begynt på Spatterjay-trilogien i Polity-universet. Kronologisk er dette ein av dei seinare bøkene, men det er den andre boka Asher gav ut. Eg trur likevel leserekkefølga mi er god. Dette er forresten absurde, men gode greier.

I've read many reviews comparing Asher to Banks & Hamilton. I'm getting echos of Attanasio & Steve Perry, instead.
