Irene is kind of annoyed by Aiden because she has expectations or disagrees with him on various points. Her expectations are based on tropes. Aiden recognizes he is new to reading & is secure in his non biased view of what he reads. Irene is biased as she looks upon these tropes & tries to figure her situations out like this.
