I am actually learning lots of stuff from this book. Who ever knew that glass can break down into stuff like potassium, calcium, sodium, trace elements. And I have no idea if this only applies to volcanic glass or all glass?? Plus the volcanic glass can turn into clay? Suddenly that clay around here is very suspicious looking!

I have been sitting outside here by Lake Michigan and reading this. Some of the stories he tells in here are quite surprising, like how be had drove right up the side of a volcano without realizing he was on its flanks until he had reached the crater at the top, as it was such a slow gradual rise. I am finding this very fascinating.

He studies volcanoes and the way they react. Some of his stories are really cool, one of the times he went to natural reserve with his son and his sons friend and they had a blast there with each other.

Within my reading today the line that stuck out is when he said "I cant make things I can only discover them".

There is no quotes that fully stuck out but one thing that stuck out were when he tried explaining to his kids what to do when researching his project
