Promising start!

I don't usually visually see what I'm reading, but the writing here makes its incredibly easy, it's almost cinematic. I can very clearly visualize her jumping over the swipe of his sword, crimson locs flying over her shoulder in slow motion. I'm already loving the vibes of this.

‘“This body has so many memories of you, Pearl,” he said slowly. “Of waiting. Of wanting.”

Pearl shuddered. “You disgusting old man. You’re nothing but a leech, preying on people’s faith⁠—”’

This betrayal was pretty obvious
