Status Updates From Take Me Back to Yesterday

I thought I’d go into a reading slump after Releasing 10, which I finished yesterday, but why is the fmc so similar to Lizzie 🥹🥹🥹🥹

Okay wasn’t already expecting a plot twist but now I’m hooked

”We’re not meant to be apart, Emma.” I touch her hand and hold my breath. “Please come back to me.”

”She’s a part of me. She’s ingrained into my soul, and I can’t let her go. ”

”Where’s Emma?”
“She isn’t coming.”
This doesn’t make sense. I saw her yesterday and she said she’d come back. “Why? What’s wrong?” 
“Myles,” he whispers. “Emma is dead.”

A car slams into me, pain shooting through every fiber of my body.
I’m on the pavement. 
I’m bleeding.
And all I can think about is Mallory’s blue lips as I close my eyes. 

I never threw Mallory over the bridge. This whole time, it was Emma, and I let the world believe it was Mallory to save them both.
Emma needed something to hate, so I gave her the only thing I could.
Me.

”How can I be happy when I hear you laughing and talking in the hallway”—my voice catches, cracking mid-word—“and I have to remind myself it’s you and Adam, not you and Dad?”

”You don’t understand.”
“You’re right. I don’t understand because you don’t talk to me anymore. You’re never home and when you are, you hide in your room the whole time.”
“What do you expect me to do? Adam is always around.”
“Of course he is. He’s part of our family.”
“He’s your family!”

I couldn’t understand why she wasn’t there for me this time. Where was her tight hug when I needed it most? Where was she when I cried into my pillow or when I threw my comforter away because it smelled like Duke?
I needed her to hold my hand. 

”She might’ve been my friend at one point, but that’s a lifetime ago. If today proved anything, it's that my heart doesn’t flutter around her anymore. It burns.
It burns from the hate that’s been brewing for the last three years.
Hate is all that’s left of what we used to be.”

I’m crazy or is Emma the worst person ever?? She ran over his dog, didn’t apologize then when he confronted her about it, she told him that the dog was replaceable and said “what’s the big deal?” Uhmm HELLO?? Her redemption arc better be insane if I’m to rate this anything higher than a 2star…
