There's probably something wrong with the fact that my favourite parts of this book are the sections where Eleanor is talking about her life in captivity as opposed to the sections where she's talking about what led her to be a captive...

Eleanor witnessing the prelude to the Wars of the Roses while recollecting her memories of Henry VI's early reign is an awesome idea. Eleanor retelling the Agincourt campaign through her husband's recollections that sounds like it's been dragged out of the driest and most basic history book - not so great. I already know what happened, I want to see what Gloucester experienced!

Currently wary of this one. The opening chapter(s) were great and I like the way Eleanor Cobham and her husband, Humphrey Duke of Gloucester, are characterised - enough that it's drowning out the voice in the back of my head screaming that they're not *my* Eleanor and Gloucester. But I think the text is weighted down and made confused by the book's retrospective tone and all the information it's trying to convey.
