slow start, odd story, a little mystical, didn't like the ending.

And now the priest has romantic feelings for a woman and while she doesn't return them, she does allow "deep kisses" and he "gently cupped her breasts with his hands and began to pray for the soul of the child who nursed at this bosom" (she's meeting with him because she's struggling with the death of her child which makes this situation even more disgusting). Still reading because I finish every book I start.

The mysterious fisherman (ugh, Jesus?) just diagnosed a woman's breast cancer by pulling down her sundress on the side of the road so she was nude in front of him and placing his hands on her breasts which caused her to go into shock and end up in the hospital.
So besides the boob obsession this is also a religious book that gave no indication it would be a religious book. The worst.

Dear Male Author,
Women don't really think about their own boobs that much (3 references by page 32). And I guarantee that the last thought a woman who is committing suicide by drowning has is not going to be about how buoyant her boobs are in the water and wondering if angels have perfect boobs in heaven.
Can't wait to fully review this one once I've finished it.

A very quirky book so far, with vivid imagery of the Vineyard. Interesting characters. A pretty darn good read so far...makes the BART ride to work and home from work go by quickly.
