Such a refresher read and to practice Java all over again. I had an unconventional way of learning to Java programing. However with my favorite source, the internet, I learn how to work with visual programming with it. And this book is giving me an edge to look at the basic logical structure, OOP and algorithms in explicit ways.

Well I read the usual preface and acknowledgements and changes to edition that's like an extra 10 pages come on! The book is 1345 including those extra stuff but, oh well! How pathetic and sad! 1 chapter down, hope this edition is luckier than the former edition where I stopped somewhere early chapter 2. Just 33-35 more days!

Twice since starting the book I've been told to go to a companion website to get more info. Why not just include the info in the appendix? The book is 1308 pages long, so it isn't like the author was worried about the book's length. Are Java Coding Style Guidelines subject to so many changes between textbook editions that it warrants a website to keep the information current?

If you don't make Java objects regularly, you forget HOW to make Java objects. This page has a handy lesson on class abstraction and encapsulation.
