Well, gonna have to continue reading this after all. Dread it? Run from it? Java arrives all the same. This time in the form of a Spring project at work.

Awesome! I just got a bit lost on the RMI chapter, but everything else was incredible and pretty comprehensive!

Gotta refresh on Java real quick because of a new job opportunity.
I remember reading probably the 2nd edition of the book way back even before I started uni. Couldn't get much into it at the time, but I remember enjoying the unique teaching and writing style (especially the toaster automation stuff lol). The 3rd edition seems to have released just on time for me.
Fingers crossed, this time I'll finish it.

Giving this a try again. 1st time I tried it, I knew NOTHING about Java, so I tried to compile one of its early demonstrations... Now that I actually know some Java, I've also noticed its footnote kkkkkk that says you kind of should not compile it cause it's an illustration. Besides, I'm also reading Deitel's Java How to Program, doing some exercises etc. Talk about being obsessed kkkkkkkkkkkk

I've been working with Java for almost a year now and I was beginning to think I should do a formal study of the language. I picked this book up. Head Firsts are written unconventionally, they are real page turners. First 200 pages of the book felt like a refresher but now things are starting to get real. I don't know if I will learn what I want from this book but it sure is a good one for beginners.

prep code is like sketching on papers then the idea of writing tests iteratively every time then doing the implementation details is also easy to develop and design

Good book, fun approach, could use some work on not changing the naming convention EVERY TWO SECONDS! If it’s called a “Super-Class” then don’t suddenly start calling it a “Super-Type”! It’s quite infuriating and that’s how wars start!
