I shudder to think that while Faris, the herbalist, was a doctor as per today's standards, Safet the barber was a surgeon!! A haircut and shave today, a hip surgery tomorrow...

Oh this is sweet. Like a fairy tale. A semi-fantasy story set in 15th century Bosnia Herzegovina. How unusual. I love it.

The usage of the endearment "dusha" (my soul) is putting me off. Nowdays it something that I almost exclusively hear used in a sarcastic or condescending way.
Not sure about how it was used at 15th century Balkans though, but it just doesn't sit right with me.
