Set after Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army is in the ascendency after the Battle of Naseby it is a superb evocation of an army in winter quarters with the descriptions making the reader feel the cold whilst reading by an open fire. It also depicts well the human misery of conflict.

Actually, I already finished... I just wanted to share this one last excerpt (keep in mind it's from the next book tough haha)
