Status Updates From Silence

- I cannot believe I have picked this back up. It is every bit as insufferable as I remember yet I’m determined to finish it this time!
- This wouldn’t be so bad if the protagonist and the love interest where mirror images of each other. Some variation would be interesting, instead their POVs are barely distinguishable.

guys don’t make fun✋✋ this was such a comfort book when i was a kid

- The narrative is so unbearably obnoxious like something and nothing at the same time.
- Only my grandfather, President Lincoln, and Stella.” For some reason I took this to mean that his grandfather is President Lincoln ha!
- “His eyes rest on me, and for a long moment, we just gaze at each other. Silent.” I know this is supposed to be sweet given the title but it’s just so awkward and stilted.

- I find it easier to see things from the best friends POV. Probably because I don’t have her inner monologue so I can’t label her as hypersensitive like I can the protagonist.
- I just can’t relate to the her at all. She’s embarrassed to see people in public. But girl, you went to the mall, aka the famous teen haunt, what did you expect?
- The way she can magically only understand this guy is mad.

- The romance is really sweet, but maybe a bit too sweet. I’m waiting for the substance in their love-at-first-sight, enamoured relationship.
- The writing is very staccato. It’s like one idea. And then another idea. And another idea. The writing doesn’t really flow and now I’ve noticed it it’s kind of started to ruin the pretty metaphors (and there’s a lot of them).

I’ve read 80 pages in 30ish minutes 🫢
