Okay, am I just not paying much attention or is there very little plot here?

i am very intrigued by the premise so far, very suspenseful opening, so I cannot wait to read more!

Trying really hard not to DNF this one. It feels like a lot of rambling nonsense I need to bust out the thesaurus for, is it worth it to keep going? 50 pages in and have NO IDEA what’s going on, feeling a little bored. Is it just me? Am I trippin??

dnf bc this was so disorganized and threw so many characters and exposition at you at once. really strongly felt like YA fiction, and not the good kind, in its one-dimensional characters and purple prose (although i actually do enjoy the baroque vocabulary). the monsters were underwhelming. i googled the plot—it ends exactly as you’d expect it to.
