The book serves its purpose well, easily killing off the myth that, from long before the foundling of the republic, Americans had been gun toting sharpshooters ready to defend the country at the drop of a hat. Quite the opposite, really. Further, it turns out that guns were about as scarce as the gold and gems the original settlers he hoped to find on arrival in the New World.

I bought this book in full knowledge that it is fraudulent work—the author have invented sources to drive home his agenda. It is a shame that he cheated, because some elements in the book show promise and are built on solid scholarship. Nonetheless, a clear bias afflicts even the parts that are done well.

There is a threat to France, since the Federalists think the militia is more organized about the army they have. Virginia is helping the rebellion from taking control over the Federalists by giving the people in France arms and money to buy guns for the army in 1799.

The book is going against the British and the Indians about the use of guns they have that are in good condition, and the others are using tomahawks and machetes.

I am puzzled about most guns were reported as borrowed from other people in 1744, since most were soldiers in war that had a musket.

I learned about Leonard Calvert, the governor of Maryland, purchased land from the Yaocomicoe Indians since they were interested in metal goods such as axes, hatchets, and rakes.

In the Hudson River, the Indians traded Axes for muskets since the Indians have too many sharp objects. Like knifes, they use too many knifes for scalping and rituals.

The retaliation from the Powhatan had an unprovoked assault on the people from the natives and I believe they should have warned, which was a smart move for the English.

I love how there was a lot of demand about guns in the seventeenth century England.Everyone had guns at that time which made it hard to find a killer that most people have.
