on the one hand this is absurd angsty nonsense which is 10000% my favorite kind of romance, and on the other… I rly appreciate how thoughtfully the author is weaving in Our Hero’s shellshock into the narrative. like, yes, there are literal ghouls running around trying to eat people, but that’s only the background for his very real PTSD, and for the reiterated point that the real ghoul is imperialist capitalism.

our hero is a socialist rabble-rouser conscientious objector war photographer?!?!
