Status Updates From Maru

Maru and his three life long friends respect Maru as a king in their village but they think he has made a terrible mistake in his choice of wife. Who Maru can be quite cruel and not kind at all too.
Starts out with the story of Margaret as a baby and in the arms of her mother who has passed. She is raised by a missionary's wife and becomes a teacher where there is prejudice.

Bush people are looked upon rather low in that part of the world and during that time.
A woman and child are found and because of status they have the missionary help.

He and his like thought only that way. They were only angry when their plans to inflict suffering went haywire. They never for one moment dreamt that their victims had passions too and that these passions were terrifying in their violence.

The loneliness had disappeared like the mist before the warmth of a rising sun. ..
It was more than that, too. There had been no backbone to her a short while ago. Now something had stabilized her.
