Status Updates From Mestre dos Batuques

A good story with strong Angolan and African cultural references, written in Agualusa’s atmospheric style. However, the chapters are extremely short and often feel like summaries of something bigger that never fully develops. Many ideas appear briefly and then move on, leaving little space for depth or connection. Still, it’s an enjoyable and meaningful read—just one that could have gone further.
