Status Updates From The Secrets of Jane: Forgot...

Jane is slowly/partially falling for him with her heart, not just lust. He may be too, but admits more obsession and to not questioning it. Book ends with Soren hurt and Scorpion (dad/Charles) showing up.

Tempest is on Jane’s side, an ally of her father. She arranged and was present for Jane’s tattoo as a child. Makes sense that Blackwell is trying to send Tempest away. Why is Blackwell in charge if all the Zeniths are equal?

He threatens her a lot with gagging and binding her. Not sure why — he doesn’t do it when he threatens. And her response to the threats are odd.

Their attraction makes no sense. He was a manwhore before meeting her, has had no change of feelings or morality, want her as a “pet, but she thinks he’s worth it? And her — sheltered, safe, and previously badass, but now she’s just lust filled and wants kinky sex regardless of literal self preservation? These two are dumb and deserve their lives to fall apart.

Zenith Blackwell messing with some dark magic or being. Soren can feel it in his chambers as terrible foreboding

Council didn’t go great. Another zenith, Corvus: “Blackwell’s theory, when you left, is that someone marked her so she can be claimed as a bride, like how Belstead works in their kingdoms with wedding princesses to strengthen unions.” Beings back him calling her Princess (not unique foreshadowing).

Kathleen has sworn an oath to Jane’s father to protect her.

Cypress (witch) to Soren: my role is to inform you that helping the Scorpion will get you closer to saving Serena [his sister] more than the Council ever will, which means to help, and protect, Jane.” Also, her dad Charles, former Zenith, is still alive and plotting revenge.

Witch Cypress (future seer) trades in rubies, that her no the ear used to wear and also hidden inside her best friend Kathleen’s ring that she doesn’t talk about.

He keeps calling her Zenith Princess, so naturally she must actually be

Captive traveling to Skull’s Row. Author is writing a growing tedious trust, but I hate his “she can be my pet” thoughts. And her being open to it? Be stronger, girl. Unless there turns out to be a bond somewhere with them, she’s super dumb to spend time lusting after him at all, so it would be a poor writing choice by author to force sexual tension. He’s kind rapey otherwise; nothing redeeming.

Hearing Soren calling Jane “love” scratches an itch in my brain. EVERYTIME.

Soren and his team of riders captured her. (Audiobook is good. Narrators pretty decent and some sound effects to make it graphic Audio like.

Soren is a Zenith (a leader/council member of violent Skull’s Row). He is hunting Jane for the council but doesn’t know why. He also has a black mask that grants him some power we don’t yet know.

World building. Jane has secrets and magic, hiding for 10 years from mercenaries from “Skull’s Row”. If they find her, see the tattoo (?) on her chest, it will be bad but we don’t know why. Has a friend Kathleen but friend doesn’t know her secrets either. Jane’s secrets are also “his”, whomever that is. Other POV is Soren, maybe her hunter?
