Status Updates From The Holy Spirit

We are early in 2026, but this is probably going to be in my top 3 for this year. Incredibly helpful and brings you deeper into the rich & glorious work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of God's people.

“The nature of sanctification is that it is true God-likeness. But true God-likeness in human form is Christ-likeness. Since Christ-likeness is the full expression of the image of God in man, true sanctification is true humanness.” (p. 143)

“A right view of God as holy and merciful is the only foundation for genuine evangelical repentance. His holiness grounds its necessity; his grace and mercy ground its possibility.” (p. 138)

On Jesus' wilderness temptation. So good!

"His testing was set in the context of a holy war in which he entered the enemy's domain, absorbed his attacks and sent him into retreat (Mt. 4:11, and especially Lk. 4:13). In the power of the Spirit, Jesus advanced as the divine warrior, the God of battles who fights on behalf of his people and for their salvation (cf. Ex. 15:3; Ps. 98:1)." (pp. 48-49)

“The great desiridatum in all our reflection on the Spirit is surely the goal of personal and intimate communion with him by whom we are brought to worship, glorify and obey the Father and the Son. This marriage of theology and doxology is normative in the pages of Scripture.” (p. 13)
