Status Updates From City of Saints and Madmen (...

Finished the next novella, The Early History of Ambergris. Very unique and interesting for what it is. Of all the novellas in this book, this was the one I thought I would like the least; it’s a fictional historical account of a city containing frequent footnotes. I ended up loving it!

LOL i am so amused this book is funny. i also didn’t realise it was actually a “short story collection” so this is interesting!!

Started the next novella, “An Early History of Ambergris.”

As much as I felt myself being almost turned off from the genre by starting with “Dradin in love” the first novella to be a part of this book, reaching the 2nd part of the book, a comical history of ambergris, only comical from the irreverence of the historian recording it, has made this a very enjoyable so far. Combined with the other book I’ve read in the genre, I am starting to really enjoy its strangeness.

i keep meaning to update this and keep forgetting. really really liking this so far; super works of vermin coded but it has its own distinct weirdness and stylistic writing that is very endearing. world-building is also awesome and plot is moving nicely!!
