This has gotten better and I like how much River is doing for Ruby as he knows she has no one she can depend on. Even her father handle cooking and paying the bills at a very young age.

I did find Ruby a bit annoying but I think I have gotten used to her now. However her and River aren't standing to me. They seem like so many other characters in the subgenre as well as by the author. I think I'm going to prefers books 1 and 3 (I read book 3 before 1) over this one.
