Should’ve been marked as a memoir

On a painting by Monet “…but somewhere in the scene I was certain the painting also celebrated my enslavement, and I wanted to spit on it.” The author repeatedly looks for offense in all works of art not rendered by a black African, African American, or Native American. It’s tiresome.

Damn.

I was with him until he went to the Louvre and Orsay in Paris and kept getting shocked that the centuries old paintings either featured only white people and/or included black and brown people in ways that accurately portrayed their role in society at that time.
I’m genuinely not sure what he expected to see since he’s a very well educated man and has been to museums before…
