Five stars. This book was everything I dreamed of and absolutely worth the eight months’ wait. I originally had concerns about the content, but it was handled shockingly well.

(And yes, the ship scene was satisfactory.)

I’m spent eight months waiting to read this book (it has my promised ship scene with Holmes and Russell… I don’t even care about the 39-year age gap, their ship is that well-written), and reading it now is worth the wait. The prose is so rich, and the character dynamics are lovely and soothing.
