He has been researching old manuscripts for any more voyages to the heavens. He believes that Weston has shut the door to travel and the only way to go back is by time traveling as well as space traveling.

He also asks why the autor didn’t explain that the shutter could not close to explain why the light was so bad on the return voyage. The writer said readers don’t care. He gives a beautiful description of a morning with the hrossa but it would not hold the readers attention. He has watched Jupiter rise (that must have been cool). For some reason, the folks at Meldilorn had great respect for Gluncandra.

They don’t need pets like we do (perhaps because of the stark differences in hnau). He knows enough about the pfifltriggi to add a visit but he finds it too dishonest. He would not want to explain to Oyarsa if they ever meet again. When he returned, Ransom search maps of Mars and none were adequate enought to pinpoint where he was. He doesn’t the angels and eldila are the same thing. He cannot explain how they speak.

I can’t help but wonder if he wrote notes of Tolkien’s critique after Lewis read aloud the story at a meeting of the Inklings. While he understands, no plot happened during the weeks in which he lived with the hrossa. To him, it’s the most meaningful part of his journey. While there he was homesick for Earth and now he is homesick for Malacandra. They get spirited when drinking on a gaudy not, but not plastered.

Postscript - To make it seem more real, the postscript is an excerpt from a letter written by Ransom. He is disappointed that the writer (Lewis) gutted descriptions of life on Malacandra, its smells, and detailed descriptions of the different kinds of a hnau. He even brought a thermometer with him (it’s the habit of his as a pedestrian). He wished they could have included more information about the language.

Since noone would believe such a story, they write it as science fiction. They hope to reach open minds and hearts with important ideas before the story reaches Weston. If the story is literary enough, even better, since Weston doesn’t read trash. It may be that some people uncover the identities of key players. Space and the Heavens are two different things. Events (Perelandra) happened before they could publish.
