This is just astonishingly bad and at this point I'm blaming it mostly on the translation. The actual English here is perhaps the poorest, least apt, most awkward I've ever read in a translation published by a professional press. It's just inexplicably bad, sometimes to the point of being laughable. The soapy, melodramatic manner in which Setouchi recounts Noe Ito's brief life doesn't help. Utter failure.

This is almost unbelievably clumsy and tedious. I'll persevere for a bit longer in the hopes the pages on Seito will be more interesting but this may be my first DNF of 2025.
