Status Updates From Heroes in the Night: Inside...

These people could have done anything with their summer vacations. They could have spent their time less than a mile away, where Comic Con was in full swing. But they chose to come here, sweat profusely under Spandex costumes, and work as a team handing out supplies to San Diego's homeless population.

Ah, George Zimmerman. I'm glad that the author brought him up.

It is HILARIOUS seeing this "normal" reporter guy trailing all these questionably sane people dressed in masks and spandex and deliberately getting in fights with drug dealers. This book is crazy.

"One doesn't need to wear a costume or a mask to do the right thing. In fact, walking around in a mask will probably generate a lot of calls to 911. It is best to leave the crime fighting to the police."

These villains struck me as not being evil or particularly terrible. They were just geeky and liked to goof around.

The term extreme altruism...is a specific cohort of people that embody the 'superhero personality'...however, this person is not necessarily what you would imagine when you hear the word 'altruist.' This personality type is not always peaceful nor the most pleasant person to be around. They can be argumentative, rebellious, break all the rules - but all for the sake of good. They buck the system, challenge authority

Some people not only tolerate the idea (of their spouse/partner being a super hero) they are attracted to it. By attracted I'm referring to romantically, not as a sexual fetish. There is some precedent for the latter.

OMG I can't believe some of this stuff. People are crazy.
