This place is so trippy!

I am loving this book. It’s so much fun, and Lola is a very exciting main character to follow.

“Gael, I’m a…” “You’re a vampire.” Lol it is like a reverse Edward Bella.

“This stalker thing is so boring, Beau.” Lola kept her voice steady, though her insides were turning to liquid from terror.” I admire Lola for being such a cool badass even when she is scared!

“Lola groaned and rubbed at her chest. It hurt, like shards of glass digging through her skin from the inside. This was happening more and more since arriving on Duchesne, these feelings. They were horrible.” Lol. I have a feeling they will only get more intense!

“She could almost believe she was one of them: a light-hearted kid on an adventure. Free to tease one another and make grand plans that would go nowhere. Perhaps, this one time, it would be okay to pretend.” Aww Lola. You can tell she really wants to belong even if she tells herself she doesn’t. I love how she is written.

“Men’ll talk. Sailors can’t keep secrets.” Fury boiled inside of her, her patience at a breaking point. She pretended she was Jacquotte, her former boss. Nobody ever talked back to Jacquotte. A small amount of her power shone through her eyes, just a hint at what she was, and what she could do if pressed. “They can if they’re dead.” Go Lola!!! I already love her.

The cryptic writing on the illustration map-note has me so curious!

I am not feelin this book - and it’s making me so sad!

reading this for an ARC review and really enjoying it so far. So far this has the perfect level of world & character building- finding it really easy to get into this universe ੈ✩‧₊˚
