It was an interesting book but it didn’t go deep enough for me on a self development level. I would have actually like less theory and more ways to actual achieve the name of the book. I did however takeaway a few key things and many people will find it useful.

Getting into the tools and skills section. I need to go back and actually do the questions and prompts. Pausing this for now till I have time to do so.

there’s a period missing on page 23 and it’s definitely doing something to my nervous system (love the book so far)

Just finished part 1. I love the digestible science without it being too dumbed down. I already feel like I’ve learned so much about my CNS and skills to help my coping patterns. I recommend!

When we're dysregulated, it's human nature to look for ways to feel better. This is why we all develop coping strategies of one sort or another. But when these strategies do us more harm than good, we suffer negative consequences on so many fronts - from our gut microbiota to our mental health, heart health and life-style. This makes us feel worse, and the cycle continues.

Artificial regulators such as alcohol, food, social media, video games, drugs or sex might make us feel a little better in the short term, but they don't work in the long run. When were grabbing onto the wrong tools, they can take us further away from our set point and even increase the dysregulation we're trying to escape.

The more autonomic awareness we build, the better we get at noticing how certain people affect us. We can make intentional choices about who we spend time with, and what our social limits are. That's not to say you should avoid or cut someone out of your life if they’re going through a difficult time. Relationships are necessary for our physical and psychological wellbeing and they can be challenging and difficult

You're not too sensitive, needy, anxious, depressed, reactive or co-dependent - your inner system is just trying to keep you safe.
