I enjoyed Oromay quite a bit as a window into Ethiopia in the Derg years, and for its colorful, loving depictions of Asmara, however I couldn't help but feel like the translation was a bit stilted. Thankfully, this didn't compromise the momentum of the final chapters where Tsegaye documents the horrors of war and as the core intrigue of the book comes to a dramatic end.
