His sons are absolute rat bastards. I wonder if it is revenge on their part, for their dad to our had a second family? I just can't imagine ever doing something so cold and devious to another family member, or another person in general. And his nephew needs a good slap upside the head and a kick in the ass.

It makes me kind of sad for her that her mom couldn't ever really be a parent. Her nanny Maureen was gone, because she didn't really need a nanny anymore, and her father only visited once a month if that. I can't imagine a more desolate childhood.

"If she'd hoped that his letter would be the last, then she'd underestimated how obsessed he'd become." See? Obsessed. Not in love, obsessed.

Here the author something to the effect about her parents' courtship continuing. It seems like it was such a one-sided courtship, that it's not really a courtship at all. She didn't want to be seen, and didn't even seem to feel the same way about him that he did her.

"He had fallen hard for a woman young enough to be his daughter. It was an infatuation that ran bone deep and one that he seemed unable to fight even though he was aware of what he was risking - for him and for her."

"His persistent wooing was endangering them both, a dilemma that occupied her night and day." "She was spooked from the moment he kissed her, something my father must've sensed. Her body language became tense to the point of rigidity, there were no more conspiratorial smiles, and she avoided eye contact and any physical proximity. He couldn't get her out of his head, though."

It seems as though Gucci was obsessed with Bruna, given the way it is described that he was glancing at her or he touched her cheek or whatever. It seems like it made her uncomfortable. Like maybe she wasn't as into him as he was her?

"My father couldn't possibly have known as he cheerfully sent them out on their bicycles in those heady early days that, between them, they would bring about his ruin." Well that's just terrible. I know nothing about Gucci, at least the family. I quite enjoy the handbags
