I had to pause reading. It was just too much. Immersing in Xie Lian’s memories, we see and FEEL his spiral into anger, depression, and hopelessness. Chapter 100 was just so heartbreaking. XL eventually suffered at the hands of the very people he wanted to save, causing him unimaginable pain. You can just understand why Hua Cheng said the worst suffering was watching your beloved suffer and be powerless to stop it.
