Status Updates From Dream Work

"have you stood, / staring out over the swamps, the swirling rivers / where the birds like tossing fires / flash through the trees, their bodies / exchanging a certain happiness / in the sleek, amazing / humdrum of nature's design -- / blood's heaven, spirit's haven, to which / you cannot belong?"

Ugh! I wish I had the critical thinking to understand poetry. I just really like wild geese. Oh well! Time to log back onto ao3.

Did I see a black haunch slipping back through the trees? Did I see the moonlight shining on it? Did I actually reach out my arms toward it, toward paradise falling, like the fading of the dearest, wildest hope -- the dark heart of the story that is all the reason for its telling?
