I enjoy this book. So far I have learned about the main character Mieka and her family. Her mother left their family when Mieka was little and her dad is a stay at home artist. They live in an apartment with very little money. Everything changes when her grandmother gets recently sick and they have to visit her in Houston.

houston with her cousins. This is hard for me to relate to because I have never moved before. However, I can imagine it must be very hard finding out because, that means Mieka has to leave all of her friends at her old school and her Nana, who she is really close with.

In the book, Chasing Normal,Mieka; the main character,doesn't get along with her grandmother who is very sick. This makes Mieka angry because her grandmother has never been nice to her and she knows deep down inside her grandmother hates her. This is hard for me to relate to because, I get along with my grandmother. This book is also hard for me to relate to because, Mieka finds out she might be moving to houston wit

Throughout the book the word,Heavy has been repeated and body image. Mieka the main character struggles with weight issues and is constantly reminded by her Grandmother that she needs to loose weight. When mieka finds hope in the book this word begins to eliminate. throughout the book Miekas Grandma continues to be rude to her,"Grandma snorted from the front seat. "More like you were too afraid to go on a diet."(86) . This quote shows me that Mieka and her grandmother continue their bad relationship and it hasn't seemed to change throughout the book. I think that eventually Miekas relationship will improve with her grandmother.

In the book, Chasing Normal mieka; the main character shows she has low self esteem in the beginning of the book when her grandmother calls her fat. In my book, Mieka the main character is still facing some issues with her grandma. Mieka feels as isn't worthy and Greta;her cousin is so much better than her. For example, Mieka states her feelings about when her grandmother called her fat by saying,"Maybe I needed a little fixing" (50) This quote shows Mieka is questioning her body image and I think this could change the way she views her grandma and thank her.

In the book, Waiting For Normal, Mieka the main character deals with a rude grandmother she has to spend the summer with. On page 30 Mieka's grandmother says,"She gained some weight is what she did" This quote helps me better understand Mieka's relationship with her grandmother and her grandmothers personality.

Amazing book to this point and I'm really enjoying the problems in her life, surprisingly! Hopefully the main character will learn that being herself IS normal soon!

This book is very interesting and has really captured my attention. The characters and plot all go so well together so it makes a magnificent story! I really enjoy it so I will definitely continue reading!
