The people here appear shelled by their situation and everyone carries their own force field of pain. Space is pregnant with shock. There is no privacy and yet everyone is alone. No one moves well. Everything is sad and heavy and insular.

This book started kind of slow, but there's a turning point and I can't stop reading now :)
