this setting is PERFECCT for this time of year, I feel the mystery brewing

the halloween themed town setting seems cool, the characters seem a bit meh, but cuz im not that far in, i am hopeful they will get more entertaining

I figured out what has been bothering me about this book: people don’t talk like that. Almost every conversation and internal thought the mc has, no real person speaks like that. It is just subtle enough that it took me a while to place it. It’s very pandering and tell don’t show.

I am whole heartedly convinced that not a single person proof-read this before sending it to print.... I am currently pushing through fueled by rage and astonishment at the lack of editing or literacy.

Currently struggling to wade through copious amounts of poor grammar, strange/clunky phrasing, clear editing errors, and bland writing.

I skipped most chapters because they were boring except for the murder part.

God, this book is boring. I don't wanna hear about bookshop chores or boring knitting nights.

Only got half way and stopped. Felt like reading a middle/high school novel.

This writing is … not great

I'm still reading this book, have just had so many distractions and it's easier to listen to the audio but I don't have audio so I will finish this soon. Cute story, just taking me a long time.

There are so many sentence level errors in this book…I am having a hard time with it.

This is not really getting any better. I’m pretty sure the crypt keeper made a faster story than this. We are reading about someone’s day to day life with tiny tiny speckles of a who dunnit murder. Sad to say I am fixing to start skimming pages at this point.

This cozy bookshop mystery is absolutely perfect for Spooktober!

I know nothing about this book, I have absolutely no idea what it’s about. I have so many books on my tbr I should read.
But doesn’t the cover just scream fall and spooky season vibes? 🎃🍂

Ahhh I just really want to like this book, but the writing 🫣😬 where was the editor? The beta readers? Someone, anyone…..😭 I have found that if I only read the first sentence of each paragraph it flows much easier, but like…..yikes
