This book is cute and I want to visit this little Halloweentown. HOWEVER, the author needs to stop over-explaining everything and using slang in cringey ways.
“SF?” “Oh, that’s San Fransisco?”
“Nepo baby?” “Oh, that means nepotism baby.”
“His books made me laugh, but also had me in my feels.”

Unfortunately, I will not be finishing this book. I got 130 pages in and it’s just so incredibly descriptive about certain things that are quite unnecessary

Will somebody please think of the dead bodies?!

cozy, cute, and halloweeny so far! just got to the beginning of the mystery plot line.. excited!! 🎃🤞🏼

This book is not as cozy or interesting as others I’ve read.

There isn’t really a magical system.

I was hoping to like it bc it takes place just outside of Portland, OR but it seems more like she’s throwing in location names just to prove she’s been there?

I hope Bailey gets to have a relationship with her father now...
Although how awkward would that be...I feel like there was some chemistry between them initially. LOL

I feel so bad for Bailey.
Why does her Mom ignore her and treat her like she doesn't exist?!

good audiobook for drive cozy

This is such a comfort read for those of us who carry Halloween in our hearts all year round...

So far this mostly seems like fanfiction/wish fulfillment writing. I don't think the characters or the town have distinct personalities, there's no gripping hook or plot, and no real sense of atmosphere.
There's nothing wrong with it either, it's just like... it exists? So currently heading toward a 2 star unless the second half really saves it out of nowhere.

Obsessed with this now. Hahaha -- it's really pulled me in.
The dead body appeared at 22% and since then, I've been hooked!

It's entirely possible it's because I'm closer to the age of the suspects than the protagonist, but she seems annoyingly athletic and I know working in a bookstore doesn't pay well enough to eat out every meal...

Good blown glass pumpkins aren't cheap, if destroying a bunch of those ends up being incentive to murder I'm good with it.

Well I do respect the thought that haunting during storytime would be much more interesting than haunting a bookshop at night...
