Ive not been able to read anything new for the last few weeks, seeking the comfort and familiarity of rereads instead. So this is (so far) a surprising and welcome find from booker prize winner Lively. Written in the 1970s, its light and piercing and frothy without being frivolous. I keep, lately, coming back to that saying of dillard’s - what would not enrage by its frivolity -
