Full disclosure: I skipped two sections (about 40 pages) to get here. I’m rushing through this book so I can answer my barber about what baptists think about heaven

I skipped the section talking about heaven in the general epistles (hebrews, James, Peters, Jude) as those seemed to have less to say on the subject.

I skipped a section called Pictures of Heaven because it seemed redundant.

First section discusses heaven in the Old Testament. Heaven is shown as a place of power, separate from earth, but grace is present. This chapter did not discuss an OT view of an “afterlife”, which I was hoping for because it sometimes seems that OT authors don’t have much of a concept of the afterlife.

"The first we hear about heaven as the abode of the faithful departed comes from someone whose natural habitat it is, and the fact that they go there is entirely dependent on their relationship to him."
