If adults are guiding girls toward more structured activities, they’re actually training them to follow externally imposed rules, let others control their circumstances, and assert themselves less. They’re teaching them to accept the status quo and go along with it, rather than question it.

I’ll be honest: I do not like this book so far. I’m hoping it redeems itself later on by including more recent research and bringing in actual tips for women to learn how to better negotiate… so far, the “research shows…” facts and references are all from 1980-2000, and I’m reading the version published in 2021
