Each child will eventually be intrinsically motivated to learn to read. It doesn’t really matter when you learn to read whether 4 or 7 or 10 because you will learn eventually like how a baby learns that crawling will let them explore further. However, in a school setting that’s obviously impossible because how could you have a student in that setting in 3rd grade not know how to read? It would be detrimental
