“God is pleased continually to vary his mode of dealing with us, in order that we may not be tempted to trust in donors, or in circumstances, but in Him alone, and to keep our eye fixed upon Him. This, by His grace, we are able to do, and our hearts are kept in peace.”

Advice to man praying for his 6 sons: “Continue to pray got your sons and EXPECT an answer to your prayers, and you will have to praise God.” 2 months after he saw me, 5 of his 6 sons were converted within 8 days, and the 6th beginning to show signs.” “Instead of ceasing to pray, wait upon God all the more earnestly, AND expect answers.”

1. Daily spread business difficulties before God twice a day. 2. Expect God to answer with help. 3. Avoid business trickery, such as a sale of 2-3 articles marked below cost for the sake of attracting customers. 4. Set apart a portion of profits, week by week, for the work of God. 5. Let Muller know monthly how God dealt with him. * His business increased!

CONTINUED: then answers will surely be given to your prayers. You may not be called upon to serve the Lord in the way the writer does, and therefore may never have answers to prayer respecting such things as are recorded here; but, in your various circumstances, your family, your business, your profession, your church position, your labour for the Lord, etc., you may have answers as distinct as any here recorded."

"The joy which answers to prayer give, cannot be described; and the impetus which they afford to the spiritual life is exceedingly great. The experience of this happiness I desire for all my Christian readers. If you believe indeed in the Lord Jesus for the salvation of your soul, if you walk uprightly and do not regard iniquity in your heart, if you continue to wait patiently, and believingly upon God; CONTINUED

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24 George knew the importance of praying daily with confidence for the needs of the orphanage and to be specific.

George couldn’t find the landowner where he wanted to build the new orphanage so gave up. That night the owner couldn’t sleep and kept thinking about his land. He decided he needed to sell to George at a significantly less amount!

“That the money had been so near the Orphan-Houses for several days without being given, is a plain proof that it was from the beginning in the heart of God to help us; but because He delights in the prayers of His children, He had allowed us to pray so long; also to try our faith, and to make the answer so much the sweeter. It is indeed a precious deliverance. I burst out into loud praises and thanks…”

“it is important that we seek to maintain an upright heart/good conscience, do not knowingly and habitually indulge in things which are contrary to God, it is also particularly the case w/reference to the growth in faith. How can I possibly continue to act faith upon God if I am habitually grieving Him, and seek to detract from the glory and honour of Him in whom I profess to trust, upon whom I profess to depend?

“… and trust in the Lord for means; yet all believers are called upon, in the simple confidence of faith, to cast all their burdens upon Him, to trust in Him for everything, and not only to make every thing a subject of prayer, but to expect answers to their petitions which they have asked according to His will, and in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

“I especially entreated Him (God) that He would now be pleased to refresh our hearts by sending us help. I likewise reminded Him of the consequences that would result if we should have to give up the work because of want of means, and that He therefore would not permit of its coming to nought. While I was thus in prayo about two minutes' walk from the Orphan-Houses, …” a man ran to give him the money.

“but God's way leads always into trial, so far as sight and sense are concerned. Nature always will be tried in God's ways. The Lord was saying by this poverty, 'I will now see whether you truly lean upon me, and whether you truly look to me.'”

“Some who helped for a while may fall asleep in Jesus; others may grow cold in the service of the Lord; others may be as desirous as ever to help, but have no longer the means; others may have both a willing heart to help, and have also the means, but may see it the Lord's will to lay them out in another way; … and to know that surely no good thing shall be withheld from us whilst we walk uprightly!"

“The Spirit and the Word must be combined. If I look to the Spirit alone without the Word, I lay myself open to great delusions also. If the Holy Ghost guides us at all, He will do it according to the Scriptures and never contrary to them.”
