Wangerin writes such rich lyrical storytelling then out of nowhere begins to describe the grotesque and disturbing aspects of animal nature. I get the juxtaposition: sin nature effects the characters in he story, but also if Wangerin could take a break every now and then that would be nice too.....😵

Disappointing. The first book of this Dun Cow trilogy was excellent. The second book was long and tedious, much less captivating. This this book is shorter but has so much highly descriptive gory detail along with foul language something that was not present in the other books that I have decided to quit reading this book. I'm very disappointed.
